The BBC reported on 28 July 2012, "Michelle Obama and David Beckham say 'Let's Move' to mark the Olympics," by By Esra, Shayma, Anika and Sadia from the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School in London -- To celebrate the start of the Olympics, Michelle Obama had a big event at the American Ambassador's house and as our school - Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School, London - has special links with the First Lady some of us were invited.
The School Report team got to go to this event because she's visited our school before. For us it felt like a once in a lifetime opportunity, seeing her made us feel special.
The event was about 'Let's Move' which is Michelle Obama's project to get children more healthy.
The whole garden was full of activities and loads of children who had been invited specially, lots from American military families.
It was like a big party with a DJ, special performances and sport activities like people from the Manchester United football school, tennis and a running track.
First of all we saw Katy B perform the official Olympic torch relay song and when she finished we ran after her to grab an interview.
We asked her how she found it and she said "I've really enjoyed it, you guys are a great audience!"
Then The Wanted came on - scream!! It was really amazing to see them up close!
We also participated in some of the games and sport events which was fun.
When there were speeches, we stood right at the front when Mrs Obama spoke to everyone. We shouted at her and she knew we were from EGA.
She blew us kisses and stretched out to hold our hands which was so good! A few years ago she visited our school and last year other students went to Washington to see her.
Michelle Obama said she was "thrilled to be in London for 2012 Olympic Games" and that she was looking forward to going to the opening ceremony.
When she spoke she gave advice to all of the young people at the event:
"You're not born an Olympian - many of them started out just playing in a team or at school or at their local gym, ice rink or pool but what they did do is stick with it even when things got hard, they stuck with it doing their drills and doing their moves," she said.
"They didn't give up! And that's what I tell my girls - you can't give up right? And when it starts getting hard that's when you start pushing."
She also described how Shawn Johnson almost quit gymnastics because of all the pressure but "what did she do? She stuck with it and in the 2008 Olympics she won four medals including a gold".
Her main advice was "take it to the next level and believe in yourself, refuse to give up" just as Olympic athletes do.
Mrs Obama wants all young people to keep healthily. She said: "It's also about being active and taking care of your bodies - making sure you do exercise and eat the right foods and about having some fun."
She said you don't have to be an Olympian to be fit and active. Her advice is to get children to "turn off the TV and eat vegetables - and move!"
When we walked around we got to see David Beckham too as he and Michelle Obama joined the football session which was really cool - she was even pretty good!
Everyone was trying to get to them - Sadia was successful and managed to get David's autograph!
David Beckham was there to support getting children active and trying to get them have a healthy lifestyle so always exercising and eating healthily.
This is why the event had all the sports to try and at the food stands they were giving out plenty of water and fruits like raisins and bananas.
We think this is good as we try to keep fit. For example, Shayma walks to school every day and Esra sometimes goes jogging at the weekends.
We think what Michelle Obama and the athletes said about getting fit will get people inspired, especially the people who are really good athletes as hearing then talk about their sports will make more people participate more.
We have definitely been inspired today meeting Katy B, David Beckham and Michelle Obama! (source: The BBC)
